So when your best friend asks you to be their best-person, maid-of-honor, man-of-honor, best-person, or any other prominent part of their wedding, there’s often that sense of dread about needing to give a speech in front of all their guests (between 100-175 people, here in Pittsburgh.) BUT there’s truly no need to worry – people truly want to hear about your friendship, celebrate the the newly married couple, and get the reception going! Having shot over one-hundred weddings, I’ve heard some incredible speeches- ones that make you cry, laugh, smile, and bring you back in for more. I’ve also heard some that fell a little flat and left guests awkwardly sipping their drinks and making lustful eyes at the bread basket, politely waiting for the fifteen minutes of rambling to come to an end quickly.
The winter holidays are an all-time favorite time for couples to ring in the New Year AND put a ring on it! An impressive 40% of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, with the classic favorite being December 25, surrounded by both family and friends to help celebrate the new phase your relationship is entering.
